1. What is Clomid?

Clomid is a very popular oral prescription drug that is used to help stimulate ovulation in women. Clomid is the most popular fertility drug in the world, and it has been in use for more than 25 years.

Clomid is usually very well received by women, with minimal side effects and high success rates. Clomid does not get you pregnant by itself. It simply helps with ovulation. Clomid is very successful, and works well nearly 80 percent of the time.

2. Who Is A Good Candidate For Clomid?

Many women find that they are a good candidate for Clomid. Women who do not have irregular cycles or who are not ovulating properly are usually prescribed Clomid. If a woman’s problem is a blocked Fallopian tube or something similar, Clomid will not help.

Same with male fertility problems like low sperm count. Clomid would not be able to help with problems like that. For women who have unexplained infertility or PCOS, Clomid can sometimes be a really great choice.

3. How Clomid Is Used?

Clomid is an oral medication, so it is taken by mouth. Each doctor will recommend and prescribe Clomid differently, but the usual dosage is 50mg each day for five days. Usually this takes place on days 3 through 7 of your cycle.

Clomid can be started on days two, three, four, or five with similar pregnancy and ovulation rates. If Clomid does not work at the 50 mg dosage, a doctor might recommend upping the dosage, or trying Clomid for a few consecutive months.

4. Getting Pregnant With Clomid

Clomid is often very successful. It jumpstarts ovulation in close to 80 percent of women. Around 40 to 45 percent of women using Clomid will end up getting pregnant within six cycles of using the drug. Clomid is not usually recommended for use for more than six cycles.

If six cycles have gone by and Clomid is not working to jumpstart ovulation, other options might be considered. It’s very important for women to make sure that they know when they are ovulating when they are taking Clomid. Some doctors recommend using an over the counter ovulation predictor kit to make sure that a woman knows when she is ovulating.

One of the best things to do when you are trying to get pregnant with Clomid, is to have sex every other day for a week, beginning on the fifth day, after taking the final pill. This will give women the very best chance of getting pregnant with Clomid.

So many factors come into play when you are trying to conceive, including the fertility of you and your partner, your menstrual cycle and ovulation, your overall health, and your current life style. Making changes to your lifestyle may improve your chances of getting pregnant and having a healthy pregnancy. In addition, calculating you fertile days helps you determine the best days of having sex. I would recommend seeing your doctor for a physical examination to determine exact cause of infertility and available fertility treatments. Good luck!
