1. Confusing Stuff

If you have recently suffered from a miscarriage, you already know how painful and damaging the experience can be. You might think that once your miscarriage is over, it’s over. However, there can be some issues that still occur following a miscarriage that you should be aware of in order to save yourself some heartache.

One of these things is taking a pregnancy test immediately following a miscarriage. The pregnancy test will most likely turn up positive due to leftover levels of hCG in your body. It can take up to a month in some cases for all of the HCG to leave your body.

The average amount of time that it takes is 19 days. Be sure to remember that this can vary from woman to woman, depending on how far along a woman was when she suffered the miscarriage, etc.

2. Beware

This hCG in the body problem can be very confusing for women who try to conceive again just after their miscarriage. In some cases, if a woman decides to conceive again right after her miscarriage, she can get a false positive pregnancy test just because of the leftover hCG.

The woman can go on thinking that she is pregnant when she’s really not. Then, when a woman’s normal period rolls around, she might think she is actually having another miscarriage, when really it is just her period.

You can imagine how extraordinarily painful this could be for a woman who is already suffering from emotional pain and stress post-miscarriage. When you are beginning to heal from the pain of a miscarriage, the last thing you need is more pain or stress on top of it.

3. What To Know

The most important thing to remember is that it is perfectly fine to begin trying to conceive again after a miscarriage, but you might want to wait until a month has passed so you don’t have to worry about a false positive pregnancy test.

Physically, a false positive test isn’t going to do any harm to you, but emotionally, it can be very devastating. If you are concerned about this happening, it might be a good idea to speak with your doctor before trying again to conceive.

Your doctor can let you know when is a good time to start trying again in order to save you some pain and heartache. Your doctor might also let you know that if you do have a positive pregnancy test, that you can come into the office to have a blood test done to know for sure if you are pregnant or not.
