If the last few weeks of pregnancy are miserable, then being overdue can only be referred to as Hell. You’re tired, you’re hurting, and all you want is to have your baby already. So, what can be done to induce labor if you are overdue? Read on to find out.

1 Eat Bananas

You already know that bananas are full of potassium. What does potassium help with? Muscle contractions. So, if you are low on potassium, you might be holding up your own labor. Eat some bananas, in moderation of course.

2 Walking

The age old natural induction method: walking. When you are overdue and ready for your baby to come, pull on your sneakers, and go for a walk. The gravity plus the sway of your hips will help to ease your body into labor, and if you’re lucky, speed it up.

3 Have Sex

When all else fails, turn to sex. Semen contains prostaglandins that can speed up labor by stimulating contractions. Give it a try, if you can manage it. You might not be in the most comfortable position, but hey, maybe it will work.

4 Eat Spicy

Many women swear that spicy foods helped to bring on labor for them. No one really knows if this is the case but women have been trying to bring on labor by going spicy for many years. It might be worth a try, and at least you’ll get a good meal out of the deal.

5 Pineapple

If you like pineapple, this could be an option for you. Pineapple contains bromelain, which is said to induce labor. If you enjoy pineapple, eat up. You will have to eat approximately 7 pineapples to see any effect from them.

6 Swimming

If you like to swim, try a relaxing one to induce labor. If you do it gently, a nice swim can help move the baby into place and prepare you for labor.

7 Go For a Swing

Swinging on a swing is much like going for a bumpy car ride. It can sometimes give your body a little push to get labor started, so give it a try. At least it will be fun.

8 Try Acupressure

Many women swear that acupressure can help to induce labor. You can look up online videos to do it yourself, or you can find a professional to do it for you.

All in all, you can give any of these things a try to induce your labor when you are overdue, but the fact of the matter is that no matter what you do, you really have no control over when your baby will come. It’s all up to baby, and when you are the mom, it’s just a waiting game.
