A retroverted uterus may sound a bit scary, but it’s nothing to be alarmed about. In most women, the uterus tilts slightly forward, towards the bladder, and this is known as a anteverted uterus. However, in some women, the uterus tilts backwards towards the spine, and this is known as a retroverted uterus.
A retroverted uterus is simply an anatomical variation, just like eye color, hair color, shoe size or height, and has nothing to do with how easy or hard it is for a woman to conceive. That being said, sometimes a medical issue can cause a retroverted uterus. Endometriosis and Pelvic Inflammatory Disease are two such causes.
If you have these issues, it can cause your uterus to tilt, and it can also cause fertility problems, but the two are not related. A retroverted uterus affects about 20 percent of women, and there is no treatment, since it is not usually a problem. If you feel that your tilted uterus is hurting your chances of conceiving, you can try propping a pillow under your bottom during missionary sex, or try a position like all fours (doggystyle) where the sperm will be deposited close to the uterus. Is it Possible to get Pregnant with a Retroverted Uterus?,
